Puzzles and Practices Series: Session 3

April 6, 2022, 12:00 am to 12:00 am

The Research-based Theatre Lab presents a new workshop series, Puzzles and Practices, on Zoom.

The last two years of pandemic isolation has certainly emphasized our need for connection and community.  This resonates strongly on a societal level but also particularly  as researchers and theatre artists. Rita Irwin (2017) has long emphasized the importance of developing a "community of practice” in sustaining dynamic and vibrant arts-based practices in academic institutions. To achieve this, one of the most important first steps is to engage with each other in creative practice.

This winter, the RbT Laboratory at UBC will be hosting a series of playful, exploratory workshops aimed at strengthening a vibrant and supportive “community of practice” for those interested in theatrical approaches to research. Each session will consist of an RbT practitioner hosting an informal "play" session aimed at engaging participants in a low stakes exploration of one artistic problem, challenge, or question emerging from their work. While we imagine many creative benefits from these workshops, our primary goal, will be to develop a sense of community amongst practitioners.

While no prior artistic experience will be necessary, physical participation will be expected of all participants at the session. In zoom parlance this means videos on (as much as possible) and preparing a workspace that affords a certain degree of physical activity.

Please note, you will need to register below to recieve the Zoom link for the sessions.
