Research-based Theatre Day @ UBC Robson Square

October 21, 2022, 12:00 am to 12:00 am

UBC Robson Square 800 Robson Street

Join us for our Research-based Theatre Day at UBC Robson Square!

Introductory Research-based Theatre Workshop, 10.00 AM-12:00 PM

Research-based Theatre (RbT) is a qualitative, arts-based methodology that invites researchers, artists, educators, and participants to collectively translate and transform research phenomena into theatre. This approach makes use of applied drama and theatre strategies and, at its core, rests on two commitments: a) to honour and ethically explore the research context; and b) to engage and commit to the art form of theatre. This introductory workshop will explore key aspects of RbT and its invitation to bring stories of research to life through theatre.

Research-based Theatre Documentary Shorts Screening, 1:15 PM-2.15 PM

Join us for the first screening of two new short documentaries on Research-based Theatre projects, created by Dr. Tetsuro Shigematsu, followed by a conversation with Research-based Theatre Lab members.

Research-based Theatre Works-in-Progress, 2.30 PM-4.30 PM
Cluster Lead Dr. George Belliveau will share pieces of a work-in-progress research-based theatre play on the Acadians.
